Galveston Hurricane Disaster 105th Anniversary

Today is the 105th anniversary of the Great Galveston Texas Hurricane Disaster, (so far)the deadliest US weather event on record.

* damage: $150 million

* wind speed at landfall in LA: 124 mph
* pressure at landfall in LA: 918 mb
* estimated to be costliest storm to strike US
